Hi,
I revised my artist statement- I hope now it is more reflective of what I wish to achieve.
(it is just a draft.......)
Psychologically, as human beings we are intrigued, amused and entertained by small amounts of unpredictability.
What will happen next? Who's behind all this? How come it is the way it is?
In my art I try to capture these exact feelings, to startle, amuse and sometimes even confuse the audience- to the point when it is still intriguing, inspiring or funny.
I'm looking forward to finding ways and acquiring the tools I need to establish a sense of wonder that inspire and attract people. I want to be able to create a mystery without it being too overwhelming. To find the balance between absolutely confusing and captivating, too complicated or boring and stimulating or exciting. One example of a work of art that has inspired me is the film "The Game", directed by David Fincher, when the audience is being shocked repeatedly throughout the entire film and just when it seems like there could be no more surprises- the biggest most bewildering, unpredicted ending is introduced.
I'm looking forward to creating exciting work that would make the audience feel involved and intrigued to find answers. I use video-art, digital media illustrations and picture editing, combined with paintings and drawings. Additionally, I am looking forward to explore juxtapositions of scenes from our reality and parallel universes, possibly referring to specific examples and themes from different stories, movies, television shows, media and art in general. I would love to investigate different, unfamiliar perspectives when looking on relatively ordinary concepts and perhaps combine an interactive element in my work. I expect to use many details, vivid colors and different combinations of color schemes to assist in creating the effect of wonder and newness and to capture my ideas and messages in every piece in the best ways possible.
I appreciate the work of Joseph Klibansky , as he transforms original pictures of famous urban views and settings and creates new imaginary enchanting universes. I am also fond of the work of the Polish artist Przemek Blejzyk and his use of painting techniques to manipulate original cartoonish characters into unique, curios vivid figures. Both artists influence me to be as imaginative as possible in creating artistic narratives of fictional realities. In addition, Youtubers such as Ryan Higa (YTF), The Fu Brothers and Brothers Riedell inspire me as well as remind me how much humor should be an integral part of life and art.
